What is an "08" School?

An "08" School is a non-chartered, non-tax-supported school operating under the regulations of the Ohio Administrative Code (Section 3301-35-08).

Key Compliance Standards:

1. Religious Exemptions: Operates as a non-chartered institution based on sincerely held religious beliefs.

2. Staff Qualifications: Teachers and administrators hold at least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized college, university, Bible college, or Bible institute (ORC § 1713.02).

3. Health & Safety: Full compliance with all state and local health, fire, and safety codes.

4. Instructional Hours: Provides annual required minimum instruction hours:

   • Kindergarten: 455 hours

   • Grades 1–6: 910 hours

   • Grades 7–12: 1,001 hours

5. Attendance & Enrollment: Regularly reports enrollment, withdrawals, and attendance to parents and designated local authorities.

6. Student Promotion: Grade advancement is determined by school standards alongside parent approval.

7. Services Disclaimer: Enrolled students are not eligible for state-provided pupil transportation (ORC § 3327.01) or auxiliary services (ORC § 3317.06).
